On behalf of Western Positive Psychology Association, we are excited and honored to invite you to participate in WPPA’s 8th annual conference on Positive Psychology.  The conference will be in person in Albuquerque, New Mexico from March 22-24, 2024.  As it has been since 2020 since our last in-person conference, we are ecstatic to see you all in person again.

The conference theme is From Surviving to Thriving.  The past few years have been a challenge and many of us have felt as if we are doing all we can to survive.  We want to use this conference and the science of positive psychology to move from surviving to thriving, regardless of field, profession, or area of life.  The conference will focus on:

  • Tangible applications of positive psychology
  • What enables us to be at our best
  • Collaborations across contexts and fields

WPPA is dedicated to creating a collaborative scientific community of faculty, students, scholars, and practitioners to advance and support the field of positive psychology.  Our vision is to increase scientific research, collaborative investigations, and recognition of positive psychology’s contributions by creating an impactful and sustainable academic presence of positive psychology in the western region of the United States and beyond.

In a WPPA first, the annual conference will be held at the historic University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Albuquerque is one of the oldest cities in the United States and visiting allows you to experience the authentic Southwest.  Albuquerque boasts a unique multicultural history and heritage combining Native American, Hispanic, and US cultures. It is the home of The International Balloon Fiesta, a growing number of movie studios and television shows like Breaking Bad, and also the Center for Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) – which makes Albuquerque a wonderful place to “break for good”!

Airport and Accommodations: The Albuquerque International Sunport is very convenient, easy to navigate, and only 3 miles from the University of New Mexico where the conference will be held.  There are abundant affordable options for accommodations close to the airport and the university.

Donating to the Conference: If you would like to make a tax-free donation to support this conference, you can donate to the Positive Psychology Fund at the University of New Mexico at the following link and specify under “Additional Comments” that your donation is for the conference.
